CUBA (JUNE 2003)

Our second trip to the Caribbean we did in 2003. Following the success of last year's trip to the Dominican Republic, we find another offer 2X1 in the window of an office of Viajes Iberia. The price was 740 € per person, destination, Varadero (Cuba), the hotel, Kawama in all inclusive.

The arrival at Havana airport intimidated us for control of entry. Review of passport and visa formalities were quite hostile. After an hour bus ride we arrived at the hotel, quite simple but comfortable. The animation team was very nice and always willing to participate in activities with customers. In fact, we played several games of beach volleyball very good with them. At journey's end we chose a couple of them to give them a good tip because we made ​​fun stay at the Kawama.

The beach was very good. Varadero beach is artificial, but has good white sand and the water is a deep turquoise, usually opaque revolt and near the shore. That yes, we saw no fish on the beach from the hotel. The beach was very long with public parts and parts with hotels. The sun was very intense and almost one had to be in the water in the middle of the day. One day, when we played beach volleyball at the end of the afternoon came a cold gust was as if they had opened the door of a freezer. In less than 5 minutes, fell a storm that flooded part of the hotel, without many consequences.

We made ​​several excursions. The classic catamaran excursion, with stops for snorkeling and lunch at deserted island. Another trip to Havana, we contracted with a strange man approached us on the beach. The day Havana was very intense, and no live many feelings left us indifferent. One afternoon we visited the town of Varadero and shopping.

The trip was more special because we made ​​a hotel maid who lived in Cardenas, a city famous for that moment, Eliansito. He took us to enjoy the carnival Cardenas and live an unforgettable day. We met many people, talked with them, told us many things about their day to day we were impressed. We saw thousands of people were enjoying a ride and 3 humble ramshackle fairground.

It was a very intense trip, the second to the Caribbean. We did a small group of friends that enjoyed and shared trips. Small adventures lived encouraging us to continue thinking about the organization of the next trip.
